REGIONAL SOLID WASTE MARKET STUDY

When a major hazardous waste management company wanted to investigate the potential for entering the solid waste market in a Midwestern state, it asked SEA to characterize the current solid waste market within each state, including waste volumes being disposed, ownership of existing landfills, likelihood of acquisition and potential for entering market.

Through direct examination of manifests, SEA gathered extensive waste volume information. Permit status, ownership, and capacity data was gathered through interviews with state permitting officials and direct examination of permits. Information on other factors such as political alliances and corporate relationships was gathered through extensive interviews with industry players.
